Diablo 2 Sunder charms

Last updated: 4/9/2024

In Diablo 2 Resurrected, the 2.5 Update Adds Sunder CharmsA game-changing mechanic that removes elemental immunities in monsters.

What Are Sundered Charms?

Sunder Charms will essentially break monster immunities. For instance, if you are fighting Lord de Seis in the Choas Sanctuary in Hell, but you have a Cold sunder in your inventory, then he will no longer be cold immune. But be aware, having a sunder charm in your inventory will reduce your resistance significantly for that element. There are 6 different Sunder Charms, each tailored to negate a specific elemental immunity:

Charm Name
Effect
Additional Stats
Removes Monster Magic Immunity
Decreases Magic Resistance from -45% to -65%
Removes Monster Physical Immunity
Increases Character Damage Taken by 10% to 20%
Removes Monster Cold Immunity
Decreases Character Cold Reisistance from -70% to 90%
Removes Monster Lightning Immunity
Decreases Character Lightning Reisistance from -70% to 90%
Removes Monster Fire Immunity
Decreases Character Fire Reisistance from -70% to 90%
Removes Monster Poison Immunity
Decreases Character Poison Reisistance from -70 to 90%

Where to Find Sundered Charms?

These Charms are exclusive drops from Champion, Unique, Super-Unique, and Boss monsters located in Terror Zones. As of the 2.6 update, they are available in all game modes, except Classic, including Single Player.

Sunder Mechanic

The Sunder effect modifies a monster's resistance to a specific damage type to 95%, effectively removing its immunity. However, the character wielding the Charm also experiences a significant drop in the same type of resistance. You can negate these drops in resistance by using verious charms and equiptment. For instance if you are a cold sorceress, you can use Trang-Oul gloves which give 30% increased cold resistance, or you can use resistance charms to help bump up your resitances. The negative Sunder effect is exclusive to the character equipping the Charm; it doesn't extend to mercenaries or party members. Also, other resistance-reducing effects like Lower Resist and Conviction are only 20% as effective once a monster has been Sundered.

The Sunder effect is applied to nearby monsters, reducing their resistance to the corresponding elemental type. It's important to note that this effect precedes any other "-xx Enemy Resistance" effects, including Auras and Curses. You can stack multiple Sundered Charms, but doing so will only amplify the negative impact on your character's resistance.
